Panoram participates at GameStop / EB Games' World of WarCraft: The Burning Crusade launch event at Universal City Walk

Dateline: January 16, 2007 Midnight

The PV230 DSK in the thick of it!
Panoram wishes to thank GameStop for allowing us to showcase our PV230 DSK at the World of WarCraft (WOW): The Burning Crusade midnight launch event at Universal City Walk in Studio City, California.

This was a great opportunity to show our Panoram Immersive Gaming display platform to the largest online gaming community on the planet - World of WarCraft players. WOW has set a new standard with over 8 million paid subscribers world-wide and is growing every month. I hope this to be the first of many release events that Panoram can support for GameStop.

The Panoram Immersive Gaming display platform is really about ergonomics and experience, not technology. Here is a definition of Immersive Gaming, as defined by one of our resident gamers:

"Immersive Gaming is when you physically move your head within the gaming environment more than just moving the camera view (the mouse). That is Immersive Gaming."

The Panoram PV230 DSK is the perfect visualization system for the mid-range immersive gamer. The gaming screen is huge, 3840 by 1024, and gives you a chance to experience WOW in a whole new way! The larger gaming environment means you can have all your bags open, your raid/social window open, 4 chat windows, your party member icons up at the same time, and still have an entire window free to play in. Having a PV230 DSK ups the bar for any serious guild / raid leader's ability to manage the entire group. No additional mods are utilized to attain this stunning, panoramic view, one is simply using the graphics card to its full potential. Let us be clear: the image is not a stretched 1280x1024 image but three 1280x1024 images rendered as one long frame at 3840x1024. An SLI motherboard or multiple high-end graphics cards are not necessary; simply one medium to high-end card and the Gamer Bundle with the PV230 DSK.

At the WOW: Burning Crusade release event, Panoram had the PV230 DSK up for the die-hard WOW players to see. Some of your choice quotes follow:

  • "WHAT is this?!?"
  • "Can I have one on my desk?"
  • "There's no way that [FOV] can come from one input."
  • "NO WAY… I can buy this monitor?"
  • "We HAVE to have this for the next launch!!"

Again, thank you to GameStop for allowing us to be at this launch event to introduce our gaming products to the World of WarCraft enthusiast players. We are as excited by the reactions as you all seemed to be amazed by our product!
