Panoram's Second Generation Digital Imaging Table Delivers
Surface Computing at Print Resolution

Table Visualization System Uses 4K Resolution Format

Panoram Technologies, a leading provider and integrator of visualization technologies, today announced its next generation collaborative solution, the DIT-2 digital imaging table. The DIT-2 delivers an unprecedented 8.5 million pixels of resolution based on a unique application of the up and coming 4K format developed for digital cinema.

The print quality image provided by this electronic "light table" is designed for the most critical visualization applications such as image analysis for intelligence, mapping, command and control, medical & scientific visualization, archeological study, urban planning, and more.

"When we developed the first generation of the DIT, there was nothing of its kind available anywhere, it was a technological tour de force." said Theo Mayer, CEO of Panoram Technologies. "Now, six years later, we are combining the revolutionary 4K format with an infrared multi-touch control option that makes the DIT-2 reminiscent of the displays in futuristic movies such as Minority Report and The Island."

Collaboration is another key benefit of the DIT-2. Humans have been spreading maps, charts, drawings, plans, images and designs across tables for as long as they have existed. Working around a table is a natural and well understood collaborative environment; you face one-another and the information at the same time. The DIT-2 brings this natural work-flow into the digital age with crystal clear images with such clarity that it rivals paper with over 3,000 pixels per square inch. Because the information is in digital form, the data can be updated and manipulated electronically in real-time.

The DIT-2 can support the collaborative investigation of fragile archeological documents, such as The Dead Sea Scrolls, which could now be viewed digitally in almost perfect resolution by any number of researchers and even students without risk to the original. Situational awareness, from military to environmental to business situations, can be enhanced, understood, and managed better with critical manager interaction using this top down tool.

Panoram released the announcement of the DIT-2 at the 27th Annual ESRI International User Conference, the largest Geographical Information Systems (GIS) event of the year. (Go to www.esri.com/events/uc/index.html for more information.)
