PANORAM AND 3D PERCEPTION ENTER INTO A TECHNOLOGY SHARING AGREEMENT
Panoram Technologies of Sun Valley, California, a leading provider
and integrator of advanced display systems, has entered into a technology
sharing agreement with Norway’s 3D Perception, a leading developer and
producer of unique projection products.
“Combining our know-how and technologies is a winning combination” stated
Theo Mayer, Panoram’s CEO. “3D Perception’s image processing electronics
and their fully integrated 3D projection design software is without
question the best technology existing”.
Knut Krogstad, 3D Perception’s President commented, “Last fall, Panoram
approached us for a next generation image blending and warping solution
that meets the rigorous high resolution and stereoscopic needs of their
applications. Our UTM technology fits that need nicely!”
The results are the PanoMaker™ UTM, a 4U image processor produced by 3D
Perception and capable of warping and blending the latest generation of
SXGA+ DLP projectors. Through the cooperation agreement, Panoram has been
able to incorporate recall control of the processor into their Integrator
3000 Facility Display Management Software, providing snapshot recalls of
complex facility setups with a simple click of a mouse or external control
devices such as AMX or Crestron.
There is already a well established history between the Companies. In 2003,
3D Perception and Panoram entered into a licensing agreement for Panoram’s
edge blending patents, but it was not until early in 2007 that the two
companies decided to expand that relationship further.
Panoram’s own image processor, the PanoMaker® V, which was developed in 2000,
reached its “end-of-life” as of January 2007. As of January, Panoram ceased its
manufacture, shifting its applications for warping and blending of projected
images to the 3D Perception UTM solution.
“We are looking at various additional areas of cooperation” said Mr. Krogstadt,
“including incorporating Panoram’s patented Black Level Technology into our
overall product offering as well as providing Panoram with a solution for
warping and blending their PixelBlaster™ displays.”
Both company chiefs expect this to be the beginning of an exciting relationship
for technology sharing, combined product offerings, and joint marketing efforts.
“A number of our main competitors in these areas are giant multi-national projector
companies,” stated Mayer. Both Panoram and 3D Perception are small entities in comparison,
but in today’s world, where everyone has the same access to advanced component technologies,
our creativity, innovative thinking and speed of action make the combination of the companies
an exciting aspect of the industry!”
