Panoram Technologies Offers Field Deployable Satellite
Solutions for Command and Control Centers
Using Two Persons, Model PV290 MK1 Sets Up and Tears Down
In Under 10 Minutes
Sun Valley, CA --The Panoram PV290 MK1, introduced at I/ITSEC
last year has gone through several highly successful customer
field trials and is now available for ordering according to
Theo Mayer, President/CEO of the California-based company,
a recognized world leader in advanced display solutions.
"We developed this model after introducing the PV290
DSK," Mayer said, "which was our first desktop unit
offering vast screen real estate and powerful visualization
in a 3-screen flat panel array.
The rugged, shock mounted, 3.9 Megapixel (3840 X 1024) display
measures 43.5 " x 11.5 " (111 x 29 cm) and neatly
wraps around the operator, creating an immersive, high-concentration
environment. The PV290 MK1 is compatible with nearly all computing
platforms including Apple Macintosh OS 8/9/X, HP-UX, SGI Irix,
SUN Solaris 2.8, Windows 98/NT/ME/2000.
The system incorporates a host of valuable features starting
with twelve discreet inputs including a Main RGB and Aux RGB,
plus Composite Video or S-Video for each panel. This allows
for a main multi-channel visualization computer plus additional
devices, such as laptops, workstations, VCR, teleconference,
cable TV or closed circuit TV and satellite feeds.
A USB port on the display combines with Panoram supplied
control software allowing for external control of screen input
selection. This software allows for automatic input calibration
and three screen interactive color adjustment. "SNAPSHOT
" macros can be created, which memorize a full setup
configuration and recall it with a single mouse click.
An integral keyboard platform swings from a stored position
to an adjustable operating position while rear panels open
to reveal the interface plugs. A central control cluster features
main on/off switch as well as push button controls for each
panel including "ONE-TOUCH" manual switching of
input sources.
"We have received very positive feedback from users
regarding this "ONE-TOUCH" feature," Mayer
commented, "because they find that a tactile interface
offers a more immediate and fool-proof method of selecting
inputs."
The back of the enclosure includes access panels housing
the input receptacles, plus a USB hub for keyboard, mouse,
and display control. Additionally, a 12V-power supply feed
is available for utility devices such as a teleconference
camera.
The Panoram PV290 MK1 visualization display is housed in
a rotationally molded, tough, polyethylene resin case that
provides protection against weather, moisture and shock. A
special pressure relief valve allows the sealed case to open
under changing elevations and temperatures, while engineered
rubber shock mounts protect the internal components. The housing
is molded specifically to allow multiple units to key stack.
For setup and operation, aluminum legs are housed in the
removable front cover, which reconfigures into an operator
seat. The system's feet and seating bench are engineered into
the design of the case itself. The leveling feet allow the
system to set up in a variety of surface conditions.
"We also have a rack-mount version of the product, model
PV290 FRM," Mayer concluded, "It is the perfect
display module for a variety of applications including integration
into control desks, racks for maritime, land based and airborne
tasks and as a "strap-on" simulator display for
training.
Panoram offers three desktop solutions in the PV290 Desktop
Series in addition to various workgroup and large-scale command
and control solutions.
