Panoram Technologies Announces Winner of Advanced Computer
Display System in Essay Contest
Leading-edge digital media production shop based in Chicago
finds Holy Grail of computer display systems.
Anaheim, CA (June 15, 2000) Until recently, Christopher Greene
never felt driven to participate in prize give-away contests.
But when he heard that the embodiment of his computer display
dreams actually existed and then saw it with his own eyes
while searching the Web, something clicked.
The only thing that stood between Greene and his Grail was
the writing of an essay that would enter him in a contest
for this much coveted trophy. Greene, who manages a Chicago-based
high-tech digital media production shop called Alien Soundscapes,
Inc., quickly went to work putting his dreams onto paper,
submitted his essay and waited.
On May 19, 2000, a date that Greene recalls without hesitation,
he received the fateful news that he would be one of a few
fortunate individuals whose dreams actually come true.
What Greene won was a state-of-the-art, high-resolution,
three-panel integrated flat screen display system called the
Panoram PV290 DSK and the computer workstation to drive it.
The Panoram PV290 DSK was created by Panoram Technologies,
the worlds leading developer of advanced, large-scale
visualization systems in use in various industries, government,
military and academic institutions.
I became aware of the PV290 through a user conference
bulletin thread posted on an industry Web site, recalls
Greene.
Our ears perked right up. We went to the site and were
completely floored by what we saw. There is absolutely no
other display on the market like the Panoram PV290.
Almost 300 essays were submitted during the What Would
You Do with a Panoram PV290? contest. Among the various
ideas submitted were analyzing 3D models of DNA, creating
immersive simulations for NASA astronaut training programs,
increasing the efficiency of video-assisted surgical procedures,
enhancing the realism of architectural design presentations
and, on the lighter side, adding a new dimension to the computer
video game experience.
