Panoram Introduces Stereographic Projector
New Panoram PSP-DLP 1024 stereographic projector combines
state-of-the-art computing and optical display technology
to deliver true depth-of-field stereographic visualization.
Anaheim, CA (June 15, 2000) At the 2000 INFOCOMM Exhibitions,
Panoram Technologies, the world's leading developer of advanced
immersive computer display systems for industrial and government
applications, introduces the first member of its specialty
projector series. The Panoram PSP-DLP 1024 is the industry's
first DLP projector that features built in passive stereographic
imaging capabilities for 25" to 120" diagonal screen
sizes.
Typical stereographic projectors use cathode ray tube (CRT)
technology to achieve the rapid frame rates necessary to create
non flickering, left eye and right eye images. DLP projection
technology provides much brighter images but to date has not
been able to deliver the frame rate for active matrix stereographics
using LCD shutter glasses as with CRT projectors.
To overcome these technological hurdles, Panoram integrated
two 1,000-ANSI-lumen DLP projection engines and a serial-to-parallel
signal processing technology that converts the serial left
eye, right eye images into parallel left eye, right eye feeds,
one for each projection engine. By polarizing the image output
of each DLP projection engine, the user can view a stereographic
image with true 3D depth using easy to wear, low cost polarized
glasses.
"The methodology for displaying passive stereographic
projection is already tried and true," explains Theo
Mayer, President and CEO of Panoram Technologies, Inc. "What
is new is a fully integrated solution that packages all the
requisite components into a product that is directly deployable,
simple to set up, and easy to use."
The Panoram PSP-DLP 1024 is compatible with most popular
computer platforms, including Apple Mac, HP, SGI, SUN and
Windows/NT. The signal processing unit is not required for
the SGI computers and is provided as an option for other platforms.
The Panoram PSP-DLP 1024 will be available for purchase from
Panoram in September of this year.
